Contrec's gas flow computers are designed to enhance process performance and provide clarity, accuracy and reliability to your valuable operations.
Gas, in it’s various types forms the backbone of life and along with that the industrial and domestic basis for energy, manufacturing, power generation, processing and heating all around the world. From traditional Natural Gas bringing warmth (or pleasant coolness) to our homes, schools and hospitals. Specialist gases such as Helium widely used in the medical and semiconductor sectors, to Hydrogen used in the space industry and as an alternative fuel source for vehicles. In short, gas plays a huge part in every aspect of our lives and as such is a most valuable commodity. Producing, refining and transporting gases is a huge undertaking, long before the gases are used at their specific destinations. All along these processes, it is critical that accurate measurement is carried out. Accurate gas flow measurement is the only way to ensure we only use exactly what we need, not enough and the quality and performance of the process can be affected, too much and we are overpaying for the gas and potentially wasting a valuable resource.
Contrec Gas Flow Computers are ideal for hundreds of different gas applications. They can accept signals from most flowmeters that generate either a 4-20mA or pulse/frequency signal and, along with inputs from pressure and temperature transmitters will accurately calculate corrected volumes and mass flows to recognised international standards like API/ISO. Traditional gas composition are handled by in-built tables, however in some cases, custom gases need to be measured, and these can be accommodated for by creating a custom table in Contrec’s free to use Program Manager software, and then downloading into the instrument. Flow computers are used not just to calculate accurate gas flows from primary elements in the field, but also to transmit this essential data over distances or to control rooms where data acquisition systems are used for analysis. Contrec flow instruments utilise Modbus RTU (and optionally TCP/IP) via it’s RS485 or Ethernet ports to retrieve this data. Additionally, Contrec can offer it’s own DataMod software tool that offer’s a low cost option for data storage and report generation
