The Contrec 425 Mass Flow Computer delivers high accuracy and flexibility across a wide range of flow applications. It easily interfaces with most flowmeters and accepts nearly all types of pulse inputs, making it a versatile solution for demanding process environments.

The large, six-digit LCD display continuously shows either the Flow Rate or a Resettable Total in engineering units. By pressing the DISPLAY key, users can also view a Non-Resettable Accumulated Total, ensuring clear visibility of key data at all times.

In addition, the 425 includes a scaled pulse output suitable for driving remote totalisers. It also provides an 8–24 Volt DC power supply to support connected transducers, simplifying installation and setup.

For process control, two form C relays can output high or low flow rate alarms, while an optional isolated 4–20mA output allows integration with external control systems.

Communication and Connectivity

To ensure easy integration, the 425 Mass Flow Computer comes standard with both RS232 and RS485 communication interfaces. These interfaces enable reliable data exchange with computers or peripheral devices. Moreover, included software drivers support several printer models, allowing automatic ticket printing that includes the time and date, sequential ticket number, and both resettable and accumulated totals.

Simple Setup and Reliable Memory

Setting up the 425 is straightforward. The user follows a guided calibration sequence to define scaling factors, digital filtering, and display formatting. All configuration data is securely stored in non-volatile memory, so it remains intact without the need for battery backup.

The unit operates from 12–28V DC or from universal AC mains, offering flexibility for various installation environments.

Enhanced Accuracy Through Digital Filtering

Flow rate readings can fluctuate due to pulsating flow through a meter, making accurate measurement difficult. The 425 solves this issue with a programmable digital filter that smooths out frequency variations. As a result, users can obtain stable and precise four-digit rate readings without introducing excessive lag.

Mounting Options

The 425 is built for panel mounting, with a watertight fascia rated to IP65 (NEMA 4X) and resistant to most chemicals. For more demanding environments, users can choose optional field enclosures or explosion-proof housings, ensuring safe and flexible installation in virtually any application.
